Erik XVI
Stern-Gerlachs Versioner

hpll047 | Release Date: 2010-01-25

Following on from the Erik XVI release last year, we asked a number of friends and co-conspirators if they would be up for remxing the original material - the resulting remixes we recieved were amazing and totally varied in styles, from Hot City, Ali Renault, Brassica, Spatial, TVO, Gravious and Bill Ambrose.

Producer of the moment, Hot City, turns up the tempo in playful style and reframes 'Unionens sista dagar' as a Kraftwerk inspired 140bpm jacking house floor filler, with his trademark swing and hi-nrg groove.

Ali Renault, the producer behind Cestrian and italo-supergroup Heartbreak, reshapes his mix into a late night slo-mo disco house anthem.

Brassica, rather than attemping a remix decided to completely rewrite 'Unionens sista dagar' from scratch, creating an eclecticly brilliant dark synth-overload cover version.

TVO takes sparse elements from the original 'Unionens sista dagar' and contructs them into his own style of epic techno, a jittering monster of a track evolving over nine minutes, with ghostly fragments of the originals' melody and vocals eventually surfacing and combining with the hyperactive percussion.

Spatial neatly rewraps the the cosmic sounds of 'Kalabaliken i Bender' through his own bass-science production methods, bringing the swing and tight snare for a future-garage classic.

The Anti-Gravity mix of 'Gravitationskraftens stilla vrede' by Gravious goes straight for the juggular extracting the nastier low-end elements from the original, carrying it along on his perfected deep half-step bass heavy framework.

The Bill Ambrose mix finishes the EP off in fine fashion with a super deep tech/electro workout that bends and contorts the sounds of 'Gravitationskraftens stilla vrede' into an insistently forward shifting steppa.
