Brighton based Calika, real name Simon Kealoha, experiments here on 'Slack Jaw' with a more full-on beat focussed release, producing a 5 track EP of instrumental hip hop leaning electronics (de)constructed from his own live recordings, processed, mangled, cajoled and coaxed through all manner of processing. The sonic structures find a solid base on his flowing live bass guitar and tightly swung drum programming, amidst all manner of micro-sound textures woven and spun into intense locked grooves.
